AAC Group

The Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is an umbrella term that encompasses the communication methods used to supplement or replace speech or writing for those with impairments in the production or comprehension of spoken or written language.  From April 2014, NHS England became responsible for funding specialised AAC services in England. This workstream is about streamlining assessment, training and equipment for children and adults with complex communication needs.  An HPCN parent representative attends this forum in order to represent the views of parents in Hampshire with children/young people (0-25) with disabilities or additional needs.
