Evidence shows that, when local authorities and other statutory       partners work with parent carers, services are better value and children and young people get more positive outcomes.   The Children and Families Act 2014 states that parents must be involved in decisions about provisions and services for their children with special educational needs and disabilities.   Hampshire Parent Carer Network represents the views of parent carers of children and young people with additional needs across the County.  Our Parent Carer Representatives work alongside the local authority, health and other providers, to make sure the services they plan and deliver meet the needs of children and young people aged 0-25 years.

If you are a Hampshire parent carer you are an expert and we want you!  If you would like to sit on a workstream, steering group or strategic board discussing education, health, social or leisure services and provisions email participation@hpcn.org.uk.  Let us know about your knowledge and interests around special educational needs and/or disability arising from your own lived experience.

If you become a Parent Carer Representative you will be matched with the issues that you have interest or experience in.  You do not have to go to meetings alone.  Representatives usually attend in pairs.

Check out the list of workstreams below, and get in touch.  We can’t wait to meet you.
